Corrections and Retractions
When an error is found in a published article, IAJAVS decides what to do and may consult the editors, the authors and the authors' institutions. Errors made by the authors are corrected with a corrigendum. Errors made by the publisher are corrected with an erratum.
When an error undermines the article's conclusions, or there is evidence of misconduct, the article may be retracted or an expression of concern may be published. We follow the COPE Retraction Guidelines in these cases.
Expressions of Concern
Sometimes a serious concern is raised about an article, such as suspected but unproven misconduct, irregular data or an ethical problem, and it cannot yet be settled by a correction or a retraction. In that situation IAJAVS may publish an Expression of Concern so that readers are warned while the matter is investigated. The notice is linked to the article and updated once the investigation ends, with a correction, a retraction or removal of the concern, in line with COPE guidance.
Errors in dosages, application rates, withdrawal periods or yield data can be carried straight into practice on farms and in clinics, so we aim to act on such reports quickly and to make any correction clearly visible alongside the original article.
